I’m attempting to catalog as many articles and studies on sabermetrics as I can (reasonably). Use the links below or the ones on the sidebar to guide you around. Check out the about page for more about the site …
Completely new to sabermetrics? Here’s David Grabiner’s Sabermetric Manifesto (and be sure to check the “Introductions” link below).
(note: This site is very much a work in progress. Links will be added. Changes will be made. Feedback and suggestions are encouraged!)
Introductions - New to sabermetrics? … check here first.
Baselines - How do you want to measure a player’s value? Here are articles on different baselines, including the often talked about (and debated) replacement level.
Fielding - Articles on the many fielding systems out there.
Positional Adjustments - How do you adjust for the position a player plays?
Run Estimation - Links to the numerous ways to estimate runs created for players and teams.
Total Player Value - Generally reserved for ”catch-all” stats like Win Shares, WARP, Superlwts, etc. For VORP look under “Baselines.” For things like EqA, Runs Created, and Base Runs look under “Run Estimation.”
DIPS - How much control over balls hit in play do pitchers have?
Projections - Articles detailing player projections.
Baserunning - Measuring the running game.
Minor Leagues and the Draft - Minor League Equivalencies, the draft, and all things non-MLB.
Winning Percentage Estimation - Links to articles on Bill James’ Pythagorean expectation, Pythagenpat, Pythagenport and related topics.
Park Factors - Adjusting for the parks that teams and players play in.
Strategy -Sac bunts, base stealing, reliever usage, Leverage Index, four man rotations, etc. Strategy from both the player’s and manager’s perspective.
